Community Health Testimonials
“I am Maritza Castillo, I have 3 children ages 19, 15 and 12. My 15-year-old daughter has been overweight since she was born. She has reached 256 lbs.
In January we found out about a program offered by The Concilio and we sought out to find out more details. There we had chats about several topics, especially about nutrition and the importance of exercise. At the same time they gave us supportive materials to do the exercises at home.
Everything changed after that! We ate more fruits and vegetables, cereal with less sugar, drank more water and other beverages like milk and natural juices.
For everything mentioned above I give thanks to The Concilio, especially to Ms. Maria for all of her support and counseling given up to this day. My daughter now weighs 232 lbs.

“I, Nieves Perez, attended diabetes classes at the Brady [Senior] Center. I learned what it means to have diabetes and how to care for myself. It is important to do exercise at least 5 days a week. I learned about nutrition and that it is important to eat more vegetables, less red meat, and less fatty foods. I have been eating more steamed fish and chicken too. My sugar levels have been normal for the past 3 months and I have not had to take medicine. The doctor stopped prescribing them to me. I am 81 years old.”
